When the decoder senses a short circuit it will announce the short and even tell you what is shorting. The shorted component will be turned off for 5 seconds and then be turned back on, if there is still a short the decoder will announce the short again and shut off power for another 5 seconds. During that time the rest of the decoder will still be active.&lt;br /&gt;
